About the Meeting

We are pleased to announce the 14th International Meeting on Rapid Response to Steroid Hormones, which will take place in Naples, Italy, from Wednesday, September 23 to Friday, September 25, 2026, at the University of Campania “L. Vanvitelli”, S. Patrizia Auditorium, located in the heart of the city.

The meeting will bring together scientists, clinicians, and young researchers from around the world to explore, present, and discuss the latest advances in the understanding of the rapid, non-genomic actions of steroid hormones in physiological and pathological systems.

Since its inception, the conference has been dedicated to the study of the rapid or non-genomic effects of steroid hormones, highlighting the signaling mechanisms through which these hormones exert fast cellular responses independently of direct gene transcription. These rapid actions play a fundamental role in regulating the immune, cardiovascular, skeletal muscle, and nervous systems, and are increasingly recognized as key contributors to the development and progression of diseases including cancer, neurodegenerative, cardiovascular, and metabolic disorders.

This year’s meeting will be chaired by Prof. Pia Giovannelli (University of Campania “L. Vanvitelli”) and co-chaired by Prof. Marzia Di Donato (University of Campania “L. Vanvitelli”), and will commemorate two eminent scientists:

Prof. Brian J. Harvey (1957–2024), an innovator in cystic fibrosis and cancer research.
Prof. Étienne-Émile Baulieu (1926–2025), discoverer of the anti-progesterone RU-486 (mifepristone), a breakthrough in reproductive medicine that transformed the lives of millions of women worldwide.

Up to 100 participants from around the world are expected to attend.
